Tonight kicks off Atlanta's own ZOMBIE WEEKEND with a special 50th Anniversary screening of Night of the Living Dead (written, directed, shot and edited by George A. Romero) at Fox Theatre, followed by the 9th annual ZOMBIE PUB CRAWL tomorrow, hosted by Diesel Filling Station.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD has been regarded as a cult classic by film scholars and critics, despite it being heavily criticized upon it's release for its explicit gore. It eventually garnered critical acclaim and has been selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry, as a film deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Zombies (and non-zombies) to the 10pm special screening at the Fox Theatre are welcomed to join festivities fit for the un-dead, which includes exclusive food & drink specials,a Zombie Costume Contest and Zombie make-overs available on-site in the lobby prior to the screening for $5-$10 (cash), with a portion of the price benefiting a local charity. This will also kick off Fox Theatre's Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival.
Tomorrow's bloody festivities in Virginia-Highland kick off at 4pm outside of Diesel Filling Station. On-site makeup will go until 7pm with registration ending at 9pm and the event itself ending at 11pm. For Adv. Tickets to the Zombie Pub Crawl visit https://mcp.xorbia.com/zpc9
